For those who went, that Satur day will always be remem bered, but it wouldn’t have been possible if it had not been sponsored by Campus Activities Board. Approxi mately forty people made up of students and staff went on the day long trip. Lori Cilento, the CAB trip coordinalor, did a breathtak ing job of making sure that the trip was beyond memo rable. She spent hours plan ning, organizing, and double checking to make sure every thing was perfect. Amazing ly, students barely had to pay for the trip. CAB got funds from the Student Activities Fee (SAF) to cover the ma jority of the trips cost. All of the students seemed to have a great time, with some getting to spend their first trip away from campus since arriving to Meredith in August, some celebrated their birthday with friends, while others simply enjoyed the beautiful weather out side. Priceless moments were shared waiting in lines, as well as watching the horrible faces that every one seemed to make on the rides. People were laughing so hard at their friends faces they had tears in their eyes! The park is currently host ing what they call Howl-O- Scream. The entire Busch Gardens theme park is cov ered with horrible ghouls, werewolves, skeletons, clowns, and anything else imaginable to give you the spooks. The theme for the entire park is that Jack, the pumpkin headed man, has taken over the park and that he is coming for everyone. He ended up not being so scary after all, especially when he stopped to pose with little children for pictures. However, this defiantly got everyone in the Halloween spirit. The newest attraction defiantly helps to get you in the howl-o-screaming mood. A 4-D adventure, “Curse of DarKastle,” takes you through the castle of an evil prince who is out to get you. Even though this ride was 4-D. you were anything but staying still in your seat. The adventure dropped you from roofs of castles, ran you through woods, and had you dodging from swords that seemed to be coming directly at you face. The ef fects made you feel like you were actually a prisoner in the haunted castle. The park is divided into Eu ropean countries with each ride a part of the countries legend. Some examples are “The Loch Ness Monster” in Scotland and “Alpengeist” in Germany. One of the favor ite parts of these countries is getting to go into the gift shops and try on all of the fun attraction themed outfits. Even if you can’t afford the outfits, students found it to be just as much fun to dress up each other, as well as fac ulty, and then take pictures. TTiis just shows the park is packed with entertainment throughout whether or not you are all about the rides, games, or other shopping. My favorite part of the trip was watching our staff members who served as chaperones for us. Thad O’Briant and Paula were like little kids recanting all the rides they went on and how many times they rode each one. Cheryl Jenkins was a joy to have around and was defiantly the host of most of those faces you laugh at as you look back at the pictures. CAB’s next trip will be this spring to Wilmington, NC. So go ahead and mark your calendars for March 25th 2006, because these trips are something that no student wants to miss out on. The Wilmington trip will be spent at the beach as well as attending some amazing lo cal attractions.
