But first, the Student Life Committee and the SGA want to thank every Angel who took the time to fill out a survey on such an impor tant issue; and now for the survey results. As to those who believe Meredith Col lege should make condoms available to all students on campus, an overwhelm ing 70.9% said the college should make condoms avail able; 17.5% said no, and MELYSSA ALLEN Media Relations Documentary filmmaker Rory Kennedy will be the first speaker in Meredith College's newly launched lecture series spon sored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. “The Camera Doesn't Lie: Social Change Through Documentary Filmmaking,” will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in Jones Auditorium. Kennedy’s lecture is free and open to the public. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Presidential Lecture Series at Meredith College will feature at least three ma jor speakers each academic year. The series is supported by a gift from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. 11.7% were neutral on the subject. Taking into account each individual’s answer to the subject of whether or not condoms should be made available on campus, the results as to the availability of condoms for dispersing are as follows; 58.6% feel that condoms should be fi«e (paid for by flie college), 18% feel that condoms should be made available for sale, 14.6% chose to answer not applicable, and 8.8% specified other. Finally, as to the venues through which students would like to see the condoms made available to them, they are; 30.4% for This new lecture series is designed to foster stu dents’ abilities to develop the knowledge, skills, values and global awareness neces sary to become tomorrow’s leaders, and to lead respon sible lives of citizenship, learning and service. Kennedy is the co-founder and co-president of Moxie Firecracker Films, Inc. Her impressive body of work, which tackles pressing so cial concerns including pov erty, domestic abuse, drug addiction, human rights, AIDS and mental illness, has garnered numerous awards and been featured on HBO, A&E, MTV, Lifetime. The Oxygen Network, Court TV, TLC and PBS. Kennedy is also a committed social ac tivist and hxmian rights ad vocate. She has been a mem ber of the board of directors for a number of non-profit vendingmachinesoncampus, 72.4% by the Health Center, 14.5% chose to answer not applicable, and 21.1% speci fied other. For the many stu dents who specified ‘Other’ on this survey, please know that the Student Life Com mittee and the SGA will take all your considerations into account when pursuing this matter. Again we would like to thank the remarkable 738 students who participated in this survey making it by far the most responded to sur vey as of to date. Your in volvement spoke volumes, surpassing prior surveys such as the Dining Survey organizations including the Legal Action Center and the Project Return Foundation. She served as chairperson of the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation Associate Trust ees Program and continues as a member of the board. She was a member of the 1999 Presidential Mission on AIDS in Afiica. For 2005-06, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Presiden- with 282 participants, the Weekend Survey with 573 participants, and the SGA Survey with 492 partici pants. Please note, that even though the majority of stu dents want to see condoms made available on campus, the decision as to ‘how they will be paid for’ has not been made yet, nor has a time line be set for when they will not be made available.
