The week end began at 7:00 on Friday night, where the big and lil’ friends gathered in second Cate. While a DJ played music, the participants en joyed snacks and guessed how many Jeily Beans were in two jars on a table. Glow necklaces soon adorned the necks of almost everyone in the room. The festivities began with a Limbo con test, with no official winner. Following that, a series of dances took place, includ ing the Chicken Dance, the Hokey Pokey, the Cha Cha Slide, the Electric Slide, and a conga line. Everyone who took part had a wonderful time. The following morning, events started at 8:15 with breakfast at the Cate Center, consisting of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, breakfast bars, fruit, Pop-tarts and juice. After breakfast, everyone walked over to Weather- spoon for a performance of the Aqua Angels. The Aqua Angels performed selec tions from their upcoming show, “Around the World in 80 Laps.” The show fea tured groups of two or more that performed routines to music of other countries. Most of us had never seen the Aqua Angels before and we all enjoyed it very much. Following the perfor mance, there were three fun activities to take part in. The lil’ friends were able to tie-dye t-shirts, play para chute games, go swimming and make sand art or hand prints. Both big friends and lil’ friends were also able to make picture frames for the pictures that were taken of them the night before. Fol lowing all of these activi ties, it was nice to sit down and enjoy each other’s -^hoto by Christy Nash Christy Nash's lil' friends Kaitlin Toxey and Kaitlyn Powell enjoy eating snacks in 2nd Cate. company over a pizza lunch, man Candy Land, and enjoy This began a period of rest for most of us and allowed some free time, when the lil’ friends had a great time ex ploring the Meredith book store and purchased such items as Meredith back packs, t-shirts, and stuffed animals. Lil’ Friends also re ally enjoyed spending time in the dorm rooms of their hostesses. The final activity of the day allowed the lil’ fnends to bounce in a moon walk, take part in a game of hu- a cone of fluffy pink cotton candy! The day ended at 4:00, where the lil’ friends went home with their par ents, exhausted and happy with tie-dye t-shirts, yellow lil’ friends t-shirts, sand art, pictures, and Meredith Col lege souvenirs in hand. Lil’ Friends weekend was defi nitely a big success, letting children of a younger age see what college can be like to an extent. All who took part had a wonderful time!
