said in an interview on

David Zinn described
this season's team as a
"very self-motivated
group/' ready to face the
challenge of participat
ing in the ten-team USA
South athletic confer
ence, in which Meredith
is ranked seventh in the
pre-season poll.
"This league's going
to be tough top to bot
tom," said Zinn. "We're
going to have to be ready
to play every night."

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Califomia) will speak at Meredith College on Friday, Nov. 2, at
noon in Jones Auditorium.
Since 1987, Nancy Pelosi has represented California’s Eighth District in the House of Representatives.
On January 4, 2007, Pelosi was elected Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. She is
the first woman to serve in this position and is the first woman in American history to lead a major party
in the U.S. Congress.
Pelosi’s visit is part of Meredith’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Presidential Lecture
Series. This event is fi’ee and open to the public. Audience members are asked to arrive early. Overflow
seating will be available in Jones Chapel.
