Green Products Available at the Hive Krishna Chagarlamudi, Staff Writer The Meredith College Sustainability and Campus Din ing Services are helping Meredith move a step closer to becoming more environmentally friendly. As part of the Meredith College Green- print, the Bee Hive is offering gro cery and convenience products that are environmentally friendly. The Greenprint, a plan that was estab lished in 2009, aims to integrate sustainability into the Meredith community. The changes it propos es are both “economically viable” and “environmentally responsible.” This change comes after results were analyzed from a survey stu dents filled out earlier. This survey asked questions regarding various products students would like to see available on campus. According to the Meredith College Sustainabil ity website, some of the items that will be available include “organic macaroni and cheese, grape juice. peanut butter, and condiments such as ketchup and mustard.” Sustainability coordinator Laura Fieselman, says this on the sub ject: “Thank you to Scott Lamond, Director of Dining Services for his work with the Sustainability Committee to bring the green products to the BeeHive. Student representatives Stephanie Saldana and Yareli Sanchez Tadeo join faculty, staff and alumnae to form the Sustainability Committee. In 2010 the committee is focusing on several specific goals; increasing the availability of environmentally- preferable products on campus is one of these goals.” For more information about sustainability at Meredith, please visit http:// www.meredith.edu/sustainability/ or contact Laura Fieselman, the Meredith College Sustainability Coordinator.
