CAMPUS LIFE Juniors Win 68th Annual Cornhuskin’ Julia Dent, Editor Meredith College celebrated its 68th annual Cornhuskin’ on Nov. 2. The seniors’ theme for their final Corn was Just Keep Swim ming, based off of the movie Find ing Nemo. The skit followed the ‘ journey of fish Marla and Dora to find their friend Nema in time for “fishmencement.” The juniors chose to base their theme off the Harry Potter series and titled it Harriet Potter and the Unity Stone. Harriet Potter goes on a mission to find the missing heirloom with her trusty sidekicks Rhonda and Harmony in order to get their unity stones. The sophomores’ theme Flipped Friday came from the niovie Freaky Friday. Sophomore Daisy and her big sis Iris switch places and must find a way to switch back before graduation. The freshmen created their own theme and titled it Sweet Sixteen. Best friends Daisy Chain and Iris White want to plan the best sweet sixteen party on the network MCTV. The competitions of Corn week began with penny barrels and at tendance. The seniors won penny barrels with $229.09, and the total from all classes was over $600. The freshmen won attendance, fol lowed by seniors, sophomores and juniors. The Can Art competition oc curred the Wednesday before Corn night. The juniors won the sig nificance category, followed by the seniors, sophomores and fresh men. Seniors took the execution category, followed by the juniors, sophomores and freshmen. In the intended design category, the juniors won first place, and the seniors, freshmen and sophomores won second, third and fourth places respectively. Corn night started off with corn shucking, and the juniors won first place, followed by sophomores, seniors and freshmen. Sophomores took first place in apple bobbing, and the juniors, freshmen and se niors took second, third and fourth respectively. The juniors won the word parade and script categories of the skit, fol lowed by seniors, sophomores and freshmen in both categories. The seniors took the costume/prop and song categories with the juniors, sophomores and freshmen winning second, third and fourth places re spectively in both categories. In the overall category, the seniors were disqualified for going over time, so the juniors won first place followed by the sophomores and freshmen. For hog call, the seniors won the script and overall categories fol lowed by juniors, sophomores and freshmen for both categories. The seniors won the costume/ prop category for tall tale, with juniors, freshmen and sophomores taking second, third and fourth places respectively. They also won the script category, followed by sophomores, juniors and freshmen. The overall category for tall tale was won by the seniors, followed by juniors, freshmen and sophomores. The shirt design category was won by the juniors, with the se niors, sophomores and freshmen taking second, third and fourth places respectively. The juniors also won first place in the over all shirt category, followed by the seniors, freshmen and sophomores. The sophomores and juniors tied for first place in the cooperation category, with the seniors winning second place and the freshmen win ning third place. The seniors won the spirit stick for the third year in a row. The overall Cornhuskin’ win ners were the juniors, beating the senior class for the second time.
