speaking of golf, on November 23 and 24 the Bogue Banks Lions Club is holding
its first annual golf tournament at the Pine Knoll Shores Golf Club, The Lions are
sponsoring this tou::nainent to raise money for charitable causes. There will he a
practice round on Friday, qualifying round on Saturday, and final 18 holes medal
play on Sunday. Dinner about 4:00 p.m, Saturday and a shrimp boil Sunday af jeiciicon
(Giiests^ not participating in the tournaiaent may join the group for the dinner or

business depariTp.Cint and he in Diesel and marine engineering. Their shop carries
every hing for C-hiistmas from caras to toys to house and tr;^e decorations. One
unusual decoration is a corn husk TO-eath oncircllng a corn liusk Madonna c^nd a
s .aJie made of corn cobs. There ave glass balls with Humiael pictures inside to
hang on -o/ie Christmas tree, handmade wooden toys, stuffed animals such as the Mother
kangeroo with her baby in her pouch. Upstairs is an art ga?.le2:y featuring paintings,
prints, ni'jial sculpture, and photography by artists from eastern North Carolina, It
IS .un to wander through this shop, and fun to talk with the interesting young
couple who own it,

THE PINE KNOLL SHORES GARDEN CLUB is most enthusiastic about a great idea for com-
munioy Christmas lighting suggested by Vern Wallace. In the Pittsburgh area in
^i.icn the Wallaces lived, they call it Luminare, Each resident places broTm paper
partially filled with sa.nd and a candle across the front of their property.

The Club will be working on the landscaping of Davis Landing area, having completed
the work around Town Hall, Dr, Woodhouse of the University of North Carolina pre-
sente-i slj.cies and an interesting talk on the planting of Marsh grass - the resiilts
of which can be seen along our Sound shoreline.
