• • Page -3“ PKS belongs to Gus*s group, Bogue Enterprises, but they are in the process now, with the help of lawyer George McNeill, of getting ready to offer to deed this road to the Town, explained Gus, and once the Town has this properly executed deed, the Board of Commissioners will be able to decide, following an inspection by the State Highway Department to see if the road is up to state specifications, which Gus cer tainly believes it is, whether or accept this road as Town property. This action, one hopes, would go even further toward pulling the Town together into a united community. Myrtle and Gus have this enormous Winnebago that they travel in to fun places like the mountains, enjoying this, their first experience in camping, with a great deal of enthusiasm. They have been most pleased with campgrounds they have found, and plan an extended adventure in the big house on wheels this Fall, Their three lively poodles, Susie, Mimi, and Kurlee, accompany them on their journeys. When they find time to take a breath, the Wertzes often head for the golf coux-sej, and they both are very active in the Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church —^ in fact, they are charter members and helped to build it, Gus Kas highly instrumental in founding the newest Lions Club and invites inyecested proc-pective Lions to joinj the club meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays at the Hol‘’,t:.a.y Inn at 12:30. Their son, Rickj, teaches in nearby Greenville, and their soxi, Ralph, teaches in faraway Johannes- burgh,South Africa, Walt until now has been with the ?3ll Telephone Company, MARGARET McMANN and her little boy, JENNINGS, 5i ha«re xented the Emmeison house on Loblolly, Margaret is secretary to the director of the Division of Marine Fisheries, She and the Emmersons have been close f:'.:LO‘^.ds for a long while, having lived across the street from each other in Chapel MiT.?. at one time, while^ Margaret was working for the Institute of Government there. She is enjoying the house but missing the Emmersons who went back to live in Chapel Hill in order to be nearer their family. MAG WELIS, living in his family's summer retreat on Juniper in PKS, is a new dentist in Morehead City, but he is not new to the area. His mother, MRS, BETHEA PATTERSON, is one of our Raleigh subscribers, and visits her home here in PKS freq^uently, MAC graduated from the University of North Carolina Dent al School in Chapel Hill and began practicing at the Carteret Medical Center with Dr, David Freshwater on July 21st, Meet the MANSFIELDS. — PEG and DICK MANSFIELD moved into their new home on Arbo2?vitae July 3» They came here from Cleveland, Ohio, where Dick was an engineer with Union Carbide, They learned to love North Carolina when Dick was working in Morganton, Pine Knoll Shores they found through an ad Peg saw in the National ObseDrver, Their home is on the canal where they report cra^bs are posi tively rushing into their crab trap, and they are opposite Brock Basin, a fine location for enthusiastic boaters. Up on Lake Erie they had a 27 foot sailboab on which they spent three or four weeks at a time. Here they are waiting excitedly for their 23“foo't Allmand powerboat, Dick enjoys sailing, boating and fishing. He also likes to build things and pointed out a chair he made from a walnut log^ Beautiful! Peg sews and gardens. Their children live in widely separated areas Syracuse, N. Y.; Andover, Mass.; Buffalo, N. Y,; and Los Alamos, N, M, And they are looking forward to visits from their grandchildren. Oh, and we should mention Lief the Lucky, their friendly Norwegian Elkhound. The Mansfields are finding Pine Knoll Shores a great place to live, full of helpful, neighborly people. Pizza anyone??? There is a new Pizza Inn on Highway ?0 just beyond Carteret Tech on the opposit side of the highway. Your reporter tested a sausage Pizza, and it was feood. The menu lists lots of varieties of pizza as well as spaghetti, sandwiches, and salads. Well worth trying.
