# Page -3- By the Atlantic Ocean on the Mimosa Park Deck" began the invitation to the Septem ber 20th wedding of Kathy Fernandez, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jon Doll, Pine Knoll Shores, Jfup, they were married on that deck overlooking the sea in a six o’clock P.M. ceremony performed by Milton Yaeck, retired Moravian minister, friend and neighbor of the Doll family. As the small group of guests gathered on the deck, they were treated to Elizabethan music played on recorders by a group of young people in this area who, along with oneosllisb, practice together frequently for their own pleasure. Paige Reese came from Salem, Oregon to be maid of honor, and Ken Chang made it from Seattle, Washington to perform duties of best man, Ken spent one whole summer in PKS two years ago, working as a carpenter, with Jon, and with John Vinson, another friend of Jon*s who arrived from California for this occasion. Also in the wedding party were Mike Kuechle, Sheboygan, Wisconsin; Patty Fernandez, sister of the bride: and Julie Doll, sister of the groom, Kathy and Jon met in Oregon where both were with Meier and Frank Department stores, A few months ago Jon accepted a job with Saks Fifth Ave. in New York and it was then the two decided to marry in PKS, since they would be coming East anyway. They honeymooned on Grand Cayman Island before setting out for their new life in New York City. Kathy is a graduate of Whitman College, Walla Walla, Wash, and Jon of the University of Washington, Recorders were Mary and Terrence Bisson, Susan and Tim Cowles, and Sue Clerici; cellist was Vince Guida, All are from Beaufort, oOo BICYCLERS: Would you like to refresh yourselves on rules of the road for bicycles, how to change a bicycle tire or chain, or set a break, or take apart a bike for cleaning or changing a part? And how about getting together with friends for plea sure and exercise cycling, even planning an organized up-to-25 mile trip? There is even a project bi-centennial that offers an opportunity to bicycle all the way across the country, and the County Recreation Department is organizing a bicycle club which will be furnished with a meeting place and publicity if the members elect officers and schedule a program. Whether you bicycle or not, you might be interested in supporting a req^uest to re tain, as planned, bicycle lanes on Salter Path when it is improved — then some of us could bike to the Town Hall and shopping centers (as they appear here), saving fuel while keeping fit. All ye bicycle minded, send a card saying so to MARY SHAW, Beechwood Drive, Rte. 1. Morehead City, N, C, 28557. oOo In cooperation with the Whaler Inn and Roger Powell, its manager. Dr. Ned A. Smith, director of the Carteret Marine Resources Center, will present a series of films from the library of the International Oceanographic Foundation this fall. Entitled lallenge of the Oceans", the films can be seen at 7:30 P.M. every other Wednesday night after October 1st, even though the center will not be officially open until much later. Dr, Smith hopes to encourage local residents and visitors as well to use the new center and he sees this series as an opportunity for the beginning of a good relationship between nearby communities and the beautiful new building in our very own PKS, off Bridge Road. Subjects will cover oceanography, weather and mariculture, and some of the films include award winning undersea and polar photography. No admission will be charged. oOo UNDER CONSTRUCTION: a shower at the Mimosa Beach Decki And there are picnic tables at Brock Basin, All thanks to the Pine Knoll Association and the trusty guys who do all the labor — our very own guys, that is, oOo HAIRSYLES UNLIMITED is the new beauty shop right on the island, at what manager Loris Bell, calls, the "heart of the beach", next to Tommy’s Pancake House, and in the Beachcomber Motel, Doris tells us she's open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 to 5s00 and by appoint- Ki'^nt on Thursday and Friday nights. She'll do both men's and ladies* hair and can handle anything from cuts, styling, blow drying to body waves and coloring.
