Many of the planned repairs in Hammer and Garner parks had to be put on hold, but are being done now. The cold had a severe impact on the palms in McNeill Park, and we are hoping most of them come back. We have begun the planning and evaluation process to make major changes to the ramp in McNeill Park. Based on GAMA recommendations, we have begun working with marine engineering firms to design the new ramp and the construction process. These designs will dictate what approvals will eventually be needed. However, this is not a quick process and we are learning to be patient. We want to call attention to two issues that have received renewed interest in Pine Knoll Shores: speeding and pet waste. The speed limit in the PIKSCO part of town is 25 mph, except on Highway 58. As the weather warms up, we will have more bicyclists and walkers along our streets. Please observe the speed limit. When you walk your pet, please pick up the waste. Don’t foul the footpath that we all use. Picking up pet waste in our parks is a must. Pickleball equipment was recently purchased to support our homeowners who regularly play in Garner Park. We hope everyone who plays, or wants to play, can join the Saturday morning group to learn more about this popular sport. We are always looking for residents who would like to serve and are willing to volunteer a few hours of their time and expertise. We need your help to keep PIKSCO parks looking good and to suggest changes that we can make to improve our life here in paradise. PIKSCO contact. For questions, concerns, to express a willingness to volunteer or to provide feedback, contact Erica Reed at 247-4818, piksco@ec.rr.com, through the website at piksco.com or by mail at P.O.
