The Country Club of the Crystal Coast ...where friends connect By John Ferguson Renovations at The Country Club of the Crystal Coast are proceeding well. There are many activities going on that will make this club an even more attractive venue for weddings and other significant events and make it a place where people of aU ages can participate in activities that they enjoy at this new and improved “crown of Pine Knoll Shores.” Here is what has begun and should be finished this summer: • We are moving the pro shop to a better location in the main club building that will make it more visible to those arriving and departing the club, and therefore be more accessible. • We are building an expanded member lounge so that we can accommodate members wishing to socialize while a major event is being held in the main ballroom. There will be a bar and improved view of the sound in this room, so it will not only have comfortable seating, but will also be a place where we can congregate and discuss our golf or tennis victories or have a meal and beverage with our new friends. • The main ballroom is being improved for comfort and elegance and will have a much improved view of the sound as well as allow for a beautiful interior ambiance. • We are almost finished with the irrigation improvements to the golf course, which are needed to ensure that the new greens and improved fairways we are going to build will have adequate water coverage once they are completed. • The cart paths are being improved, tod new carts will soon be available. • We have begun work on a new pool for babies and toddlers that will augment the current pool. Soon all ages can comfortably enjoy a swim. • The Tennis Center will be improved with a changing room for women, as well as much needed renovations to the building and observation decking. • To ensure our new equipment is adequately protected, a new maintenance facility is being constructed. I am sure that you can see that the significant changes underway will make our club even better and more attractive to our community; however, this is not all. The Board of Directors has been working on a new set of membership classifications, as well as an improved rate structure, that will be competitive with other facilities in the area. They have decided that even with all of these improvements, there would be no increase in current member dues, and in some cases, members will see a decrease in their current rates. We believe that the people of Pine Knoll Shores and the surrounding area will want to join our club because it will be first class in terms of facilities and will also be competitive in pricing. I encourage you to inquire about these new classifications and rates that will be ^^^'expertise you remake comfm in. turn to yogr, expert Carrier^^^today ^'for^l ^rep*r, maintenance & instaliation needs. I think you will be impressed and want to be part of this opportunity to find new friends in a beautiful setting with great activities available to you and your family. Caught Doing Something Good A Thank You from Lee Sullivan. My dear friends: Recently I fell and injured my leg badly—nothing broken but lots of stitches above the knee. When the word got out, I was amazed at the calls, emails and drop-ins that I received. Folks brought food, and I received offers to stay with me and to drive me when and where I needed to go. I cannot tell anyone about this without getting a few tears in my eyes. This community is very special because of the thoughtful and caring residents. I am on the mend, but still have to be careful and use a cane. My loving thanks to you all. PKS Police and Fire Departments recognized. Our public safety team was recognized by Radio 106.5 WSFL with a catered lunch and department awards on March 26. The departments were nominated for the radio stations “Salute to Local Heroes” program and were selected as the winner. Congratulations to all. Celebrate and appreciate those who do something good. Pine Knoll Shores prides itself on its volunteerism, and it is true that many people are willing to give their time to improve our already nearly perfect living conditions. We do live in paradise, and that doesn’t happen by accident. This column is available for those who wish to publicly acknowledge some type of service or a kindness that may otherwise go unheralded.
