PKA News
By Carolyn Brown Thompson
The 2019 annual meeting is fast approaching, and all
Pine Knoll Association (PKA) residents are encouraged
to attend. The meeting will be held at town hall on Friday,
June 21, at 7 p.m., preceded by a social at 6:30. Candidates
for three directors of the PKA board are needed. If you are interested in serving,
please send a summary of your background and interests to PKAbox905@gmail.com.
PKA residents are also invited to attend PKA board meetings, held on the second
Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at town hall. Attendance at the meetings is a
great way to learn what is going on in your community and to be heard should you
have comments or concerns. Another way for your voice to be heard is by sending
your comments to the PKA mailbox, website and Facebook page as outlined below.
All PKA residents will soon be receiving a mailing that will include information
concerning the annual meeting, a proxy ballot for selecting new directors and
approving the proposed budget, and a bill for the annual HOA dues. When paying
your dues, should you choose to use Bill Payer, please be sure to indicate your PKA
address in the memo Section on the check to ensure that your account is properly
credited.
AU homeowners are reminded that if you are contemplating any type of work on
your property, you must connect with the Pine Knoll Shores building inspector or
town planner and your PKA homeowners association to discuss your plans and to
seek approval.
Residents and property owners along the canal are reminded that you are required
to maintain your sea wall. Multiple properties have experienced storm damage and
need repairs. Also, tree limbs and debris continue to be found in the canal. If you see
something of concern, please report it to our office as shown below. Of course, if you
can remove it yourself, please do so.
The number one complaint received by PKA has to do with boats causing a wake
by traveling at excessive speed along the canal. Earlier signage indicated a speed of 5
miles per hour was adequate for no wake; however, upon further examination, many
boats leave a significant wake at that speed. Therefore, you are requested to travel the
canal at idle speed only.
A few work days are needed to make repairs to the sittum at Ocean Park and the
center dock at Hall Haven. Please check the PKA website and Facebook page for
a work schedule and volunteer accordingly. Any help you can give will be greatly
appreciated.
