Board of Elections Seeks Poll Workers FourthAnnual PKS Fishing Tournament By Suzanne Carmel The 2019 Pine Knoll Shores Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday, October 19. This event is open to all people living in Pine Knoll Shores, family members, property owners and town employees—so be sure to invite your kids and grandkids to town so they can be a part of the fishing. You can fish from the surf, a pier, a kayak or a boat. There are no age limits; however, anyone 16 or older will need a current North Carolina Recreational Fishing License. Because this is an inshore tournament, fish that maybe entered are limited to red drum (must be 18-27 inches in length), speckled trout, gray trout (weakfish), bluefish, sea mullet and sheepshead. Flounder season is over. Again this year we will have a kids’ tournament for aU kids 12 and under. Young fishermen entered in the main tournament will be entered automatically into the kids’ tournament. Eligible fish for the kids are spot, lizard fish, oyster toads, croaker and pinfish. Fish all day until the weigh-in begins at McNeill Park at 4 p.m. There will be a leaderboard, refreshments, fish tales, t-shirts, a lot of hoopla—and a trophy for the largest fish in each category. The entry fee is $10 per person. Anglers can register for the tournament at the Pine Knoll Shores town hall. Rules and other information will be available tor registrants at that time. Please mark your calendars now and plan to join your town in the Fourth Annual Fishing Tournament on October 19. This tournament is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Committee. Please call 919-880-1604 with questions. ' The Carteret County Board of Elections is in need of additional poll workers for the upcoming elections. All political parties are needed, and unaffiliated voters are not excluded from serving at the polls. Wages are paid at $11 to $12 an hour depending on the position, and workers are paid for training and setup of the precincts prior to the Election Day. Poll workers must be able to handle a long day (from 6 a.m. to 8-9 p.m. on Election Day) and must also be able to assist in setup and breakdown of the polling site.
