PiN.E Knoll Shores A (smgfuf ByJoAnne Ferguson Attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson is this saying: “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” The Pine Knoll Shores Womens Club was established 35 years ago in 1984, and since then the women of Pine Knoll Shores have been making a difference in our community by volunteering, helping others who are less fortunate and giving their time and money to help our community stay safe. We have changed and grown, but have always made the needs of our community the most important focus of our service. Being part of the Pine Knoll Shores Womens Club gives members an opportunity to empower the women of Pine Knoll Shores to serve the community, participate in local charities, help a student at the community college make a dream come true, make new friends and participate in fun social activities. We volunteer in many different avenues of our community. We also have fun with social activities, including book clubs. Cooks Night Out, Wine and Tapas—and have very interesting programs every month. Last month Mayor Ken Jones spoke to us on our experience with Hurricane Florence and the aftermath one year later. We are excited to have Ted Lindblad talk with us this month about the history of Pine Knoll Shores. Ted is a member of the Pine Knoll Shores History Committee and will bring a wealth of information to us. Our meetings are held on the fourth Friday of the month at 9:30 a.m. at the Pine Knoll Shores town hall, except for the summer break. Meetings begin with coffee and conversation, followed by the guest speaker and then a short business meeting. This year we are extending our membership to all women living and working on Bogue Banks who are not served by any other womens club. If you are interested, please join us on October 25. We would love to have you. Recycled paper production creates lA- percent Less air pollution and 35 percent less v^ater pollution tUan virgin paper production.
