PKS Garden Club on the Move Early-rising Pine Knoll Shores Garden Club and Emerald Isle Garden Club members and other guests traveled to Manteo by bus on Wednesday, March 11, for an all-day adventure at the Elizabethan Gardens. Members enjoyed the many camellias, cherry trees, early blooming spring plants and a live oak tree planted in the 1500s. They also spotted a children’s garden and playground with a pirate ship and statues of Queen Elizabeth I and Virginia Dare, first English child born in a New World English possession. They enjoyed lunch and a VIP tour, which was particularly informative and made members eager to start working in their own gardens. It was a great day of beauty and memories made with friends and kindred spirits. —Photos by Jean McDanal, Susan King and Jan Corsello T i '■ “•'ii'.V * '!S sis • X'r^ , ^ Ml ■'isiK i ' \ 1^ - \ ' V,: V' ' _ ■W^r^ ■'■■■' - ,-m • -A* «y' ^5^ IS-'- 'r^ W V r^. itT'K' - . 5, - t’' - ”^JL^ ’ V _ \ T -.1 ■V ‘V •'■ *'■ -mi Mh r^&.., 12 The Shoreline I April 2020
