Instead of asking you to “adopt” a family that has been vetted by Hope For The Warriors and buying presents for the children, we will collect money instead. All funds will be turned over to Hope For The Warriors, who will then buy, wrap and deliver gifts to those warrior families in North Carolina that they have vetted. As are so many others, our warrior families are struggling in these challenging times, and this is an opportunity to bring a little cheer into their holiday season. Your generous donation will be gladly accepted by December 8. A check made payable to Kayak for the Warriors (K4TW) with “Angel Tree Project” on the memo line can be placed in the drop box behind town hall or mailed to: Angel Tree, Town of Pine Knoll Shores, 100 Municipal Circle, Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512. The Parks and Recreation Committee thanks you for your continued support of this holiday project. Please contact BJ Peter at 252-646-8079 with questions. 2020 Pine Knoll Shores tribute cancelled As we anticipated the possibility of a second wave of COVID-19, hard decisions were made to cancel events and renew our determination to keep ourselves and others safe. Among those events that won’t happen this year is the Pine Knoll Shores Veterans Day tribute. While the gathering at the Blue Star memorial may have been cancelled, let’s not miss an opportunity to honor and thank those who currently defend our freedoms as well as those who did so in the past and will continue to serve in the future. Despite the challenges that 2020 has handed us, we are blessed to live in this country that affords us freedoms not enjoyed in many other places in the world. The closing remarks that were planned for this year’s Veterans Day tribute say it all: It is our privilege to honor America’s veterans and celebrate them for keeping this nation “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” The price of freedom is high, and we cannot afford to forget those willing to pay it. Let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligation to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free. We are indebted to those who are serving or have served this country to protect our freedoms. Sincerely thank them when you get the chance. Consider anonymously paying a restaurant bill for a member of the military or donating to the Pine Knoll Shores Angel Tree. Support Kayak for the Warriors. Letting our active duty military and veterans know we value them and appreciate their sacrifices is the least we can do. ' -J i.. ^ .If - 1 t.
