The Sixth Annual Pine Knoll Shores Family Fishing Tournament, scheduled
for October 9, is open to all people living in Pine Knoll Shores, family members
(including grandchildren), property owners and town employees. Those
participating in the tournament may fish from the surf, a pier, a kayak or a boat.
There are no age limits, and all are welcome. Anyone 16 or older will need a
North Carolina saltwater fishing license.
Because this is an inshore event, the catch is limited to the following: red drum
(must be 18-27 inches in length), sheepshead, grey trout (weak fish), speckled
trout, sea mullet and bluefish. Flounder season will be over. Winners will be
determined by legal weight/length in each category. Anglers (age 13 and up) may
fish all day, beginning at 7 a.m., and must report to McNeill Park by 4 p.m. to
complete weigh-in by 5 p.m. Plaques will be presented to the adult winners.
