Items should be placed on the right of way in front of your house (away from yard waste) the night prior to pickup as the truck will move through town early in the morning. If the truck is unable to complete the route on Tuesday, it wiU come back on Wednesday, October 27, to complete the pickup. Please note: the truck will not go back to houses already visited on Tuesday. Bulk items include furniture, mattresses, bags of clothes and outdoor grills (propane tanks are excluded). Long items are not to exceed four feet in length, but doors may be discarded in their full length. White goods will also be picked up. Typical white goods are appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, clothes dryers, dishwashers and hot water heaters. Absolutely no used tires, batteries, light bulbs, oil, grease, paint or any other materials that are considered toxic will be collected since these materials are considered to be hazardous. Any white goods with Freon must be completely drained before they can be removed. If you plan on removing a white good, please notify me at clerk@ townofpks.com or call 252-247-4353, ext. 13, with your address and item being removed. We will attempt a new feature with this bulk item pickup. Due to a high amount of items set out in the past that could not be processed with other bulk items (such as construction debris), the town will tag inappropriate items with instructions on how residents can dispose of them. If you have questions about bulk item and white goods pickup, please contact me as shown above.
