December 2021 PKS Students of the Month Connor Marsh Just two sophomores were chosen as Students of the Month in October at West Carteret High School—and both are residents of Pine Knoll Shores. Congratulations, Connor Marsh and Kenley Riley! Connor Marsh, son of Martin and Renee Rogers, moved full time to Pine Knoll Shores in 2017, having previously lived in Michigan, northern Virginia and Clayton, NC. He is an honor student and active in extracurricular school programs, such as the Student Leadership Academy and Youth and Government. Connor’s sporting interests led him to involvement in martial arts (karate and Brazilian Jujitsu). He has been an active Boy Scout for the past 10 years, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in 2019. Many Pine Knoll Shores residents may recall Connor’s Eagle Project, which was placing book exchange boxes (Little Eree Libraries) around town shortly before the pandemic. Connor has participated in a number of additional community service projects, including his current service on the Carteret County Teen Court, and he is an active member at First United Methodist Church. As one might expect of any Pine Knoll Shores teen, Connor has his boating license and may be seen driving the family skiff in the local waterways. Some of Connor’s leisure time activities include video gaming, skateboarding, horseback riding and bike riding. If you see him out and about on his bike, be sure to give him a wave. Kenley Riley, daughter of Dr. Kenneth and Kelly Riley, is a sophomore scholar athlete. She was recognized as student of the month at West Carteret for her academic achievements, genuine enthusiasm for learning and a sincere desire to support her peers. Kenley participates in Student Government and the Scholastic Leadership Academy, and she is on the Varsity Wrestling and Swim teams. Last season, she brought home the bronze medal in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Women’s State Wrestling Championship and won conference championship medals in four swimming events. Recently, Kenley served as a page with Governor Roy Cooper. She loves to fish, surf and run around Pine Knoll Shores. illllllllllinillllllllllllllllllinillllllMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMIIIIIMIIIMIMIMIUlMlllllllMIIIIIIIIMIIIIIIIIMIIIIMIIIIIIIIIIIIIMIIIIIIMMinilllimMIllllllt Pine Knoll Shores Election 2021 I Winners in Bold Type | !
