It’s full speed ahead for our three Kayak for
the Warrior (K4TW) events. We are excited to
be bringing back our Warrior Gala and Auctions on Saturday,
May 14, at the DoubleTree in Atlantic Beach. Tickets are $75 and include two
drink tickets, hors d’oeuvres, choice of flank steak or mahi and dessert. Brian
Mayer’s band, 142, will be playing for your dancing pleasure, and we have terrific
items for both our silent and live auctions. This will be a fun night
The Crystal Coast Country Club (CCCC) will host our 3rd Annual K4TW
Golf Tournament on Friday, May 20. The format is four-person super ball. Tee off
is 8:30 a.m:, with a shotgun start. Registration is $85, which includes golf cart,
18 holes and lunch. Prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, first place and
second place will be awarded. Lots of fun surprises are in store.
The third event will be our signature K4TW Kayak/Paddleboard Race on
Saturday, June 4. Registration is $50 for a single paddler and $100 for a tandem
team. A barbecue lunch and t-shirt are included. Paddlers are asked to create
teams and solicit donations from family and friends. Donations will be tallied for
each team in order to win the coveted Warrior trophy. In addition, paddlers are
encouraged to arrive early on race day to complete the safety briefing.
The Wine & Dine Raffle is returning as well. Tickets are $10 for $1,000 worth
of restaurant certificates and wine. We can arrange to deliver tickets; just send a
message to email@example.com to arrange for delivery. The winner of the Wine
8c Dine basket will be announced at lunch following the Kayak/Paddleboard
Online registration for all events, which is encouraged, can be completed by
going to k4tw.org and clicking on the event link. Paper forms will be available at
the library, town hall, and the golf shop at the country club.
We are still looking for help in the following areas:
• Public relations—Public relations are an important aspect of our events.
We need someone willing to contact various publications, town offices, etc.
to get the word out. We have a list of contacts for this that will be helpful.
• Ticket sellers—Folks are needed to sell tickets for the raffle.
• Event day help—Volunteers are needed to help at the three venues on the
day of the event.
If any of these volunteer positions interest you, please email me at
firstname.lastname@example.org or call 252-808-2998. Getting started now will make
everybody’s job easier.

Adam and Michele Phillips’ bucket-list adventure began in March in Georgia
as they hit the Appalachian Trail, with plans to hike all 2,180-f miles of it. The trail
goes through 14 states and two national parks, and takes the average hiker six
months to complete. Adam and Michele hope to end up in Maine in September.
Conceived in 1921, built by private citizens and completed in 1937, today the
trail is managed by the National Park Service, US Forest Service, Appalachian
Trail Conservancy, nurrierous state agencies and thousands of volunteers.
The Phillipses have been selected by Warrior Expeditions (WE), a non-profit
veteran support organization, to be a part of the 2022 AT (Appalachian Trail)
Class. In addition to getting the
gear shown here, they were to re
ceive the remainder of their equip
ment when they met the rest of the
team. According to Michele, “If you
i don’t know who WE is, you really
need to check them out. They will
be supplying everything we need
to have a successful hike, except a
new body! We are so fortunate and
humbled to have this opportunity.”

Best of luck to Adam and
