A Toast to The Wedding Veil with Author Kristy Woodson Harvey. April 7,
5:30 p.m., at the Hospitality and Culinary Arts Center of Carteret Commu
nity College (CCC). Enjoy an evening with bestselling author Kristy Woodson
Harvey as she kicks off her nationwide tour for her new book, The Wedding Veil,
which explores the mystery of an heirloom lost to time. Tickets include a copy
of The Wedding Veil, heavy hors d’oeuvres, dessert, wine and beverages. Culinary
selections will be created by the CCC Culinary Arts and Baking 8c Pastry pro

American Music Festival Presents Akropolis Reed Quintet. April 9, 7:30 p.m.
at First Presbyterian Church, 1604 Arendell Street in Morehead City. Tickets are

9th Annual Bites & Blues. April 9, 5 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Use your ticket as your
guide as you walk the Morehead City Waterfront, stopping at each restaurant or
host business to taste a delicious “bite” or “sip” from each locally owned partici
pating restaurant. Businesses offering free entertainment during the event will

Beaufort Picture Show presents “Minari” on April 9. About the movie: It’s the
1980s, and David, a seven-year-old Korean American boy, is faced with new
surroundings and a different way of life when his father, Jacob, moves their
family from the West Coast to rural Arkansas. On April 29, “King Richard”
will be presented. About the movie: A look at how tennis superstars Venus and
Serena Williams became who they are after the coaching from their father,

PKS Easter Egg Hunt. April 16, 10 a.m., at Garner Park on Oakleaf Drive in
Pine Knoll Shores. Children 12 and under are invited to enjoy the hunt for over
2,500 plastic eggs, filled with bite-size candy. There will be separate sections
for age groups, and lemonade and cookies will be served. If you would like to
contribute individually wrapped candies for the event, please drop off your

Natural Side of Fort Macon. April 21, 10 a.m. Meet in the Visitor Center lobby
for a leisurely hike exploring the natural side of Fort Macon. Hike will cover
both trail and beach. Free
International Dark Sky Week. On April 22-23, Island Express Ferry Service
will provide two-hour starlight cruises from Cape Lookout Visitors Center at
1800 Island Road in Harkers Island. Cruises will depart at 7:30 p.m., and partici
pants will experience the exceptional quality of the night sky in the park and the
nighttime treasure of Cape Lookout Lighthouse. At the lighthouse, NASA Solar
System Ambassador Brandon Porter will provide a laser-pointed tour from the
beach, describing the celestial objects of the night sky. The cruise will depart the
lighthouse at 9 p.m., arriving at Harkers Island at 9:30. Cruises are by reservation

Caviar Farm Tour at Marshallberg Farm. April 29,2-4 p.m., at 811 Straits Road
in Smyrna. Tour the sturgeon farm, taste the caviar, and enjoy friendly conversa

culating aquaculture system) sturgeon farm, caviar tasting with Social House
vodka, sampling of smoked sturgeon products and more, and an opportunity to

Crystal Coast Shellebration. May 6-8,9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and

This 2022 North Carolina Shell Show will feature shell exhibits, arts and crafts,
shell dealers and activities for children of all ages. $5 for adults, $3 for military

Crystal Coast Half Booty Triathlon (Individual, Relay & Aquabike). May 14,

Underground Railroad Symposium at Tryon Palace. Saturday, May 21,8 a.m.
to 5 p.m., in the Cullman Performance Hall at the NC History Center. “Pathways
to Freedom: The Underground Railroad” will include scholars and programming
to explore this complex network of secret routes, safe houses and courageous
people. The keynote speaker is Dr. Timothy D. Walker, professor of history at the
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Registration is $5 and includes lunch.
