Crystal Coast Country Club ...where friends connect By Danny Torbush What a year. It’s now fall, the trees are already beginning to turn, and the turf growing season is coming to an end. With that being said, it’s perfect weather to enjoy your favorite drink on the back porch of the Crystal Coast Country Club* (CCCC) overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. September began the cool down and brought the weddings and golf tournaments with it, with the club hosting three weddings and six golf ’ tournaments. CCCC was the host site for Croatan baseball’s golf tournament, as well as Limited Danceworks. Both events were very successful in raising money for their great causes. CCCC also hosted our own men’s Member/Guest golf tournament, which showcases our club for members’ guests traveling in from all over the country to compete. This year’s event was successful and featured a par 3 shootout to kick off the tournament, followed by two days of competitive golf over the weekend. Participants were treated to an all-inclusive weekend, including receiving Oakley sunglasses, Srixon golf balls and over $3,000 in prizes. Saturday night featured the Jan Michael Fields Band that rocked the night out with ’80s-themed music and saw the members and guests hit the dance floor with their spouses for an unforgettable evening. The year 2022 brought a new golf tournament to CCCC in the form of Senior and Super Senior club championships. Since the club’s renovation in 2019, CCCC has not hosted this event, and we are excited for its annual return. Thank you to all the participants who enjoyed this event. The club’s tennis members enjoyed a mixed-doubles championship in September as well. Congratulations to Will and Kathleen Boykin for bringing home the championship. Second place went to the team of Steve and Sue Dunlap. October brings with it our ladies club championship and several charity golf events. With the beautiful fall weather, we are excited to see our members enjoy the outdoor spaces of the club. Come out and see what Eastern North Carolina living is all about.
