franchise shall noxi be transferred or asigned unless such trans
action is first approved by resolution, following a public hearing.
Commissioner Dixson reviewed the contract between the Town and
Vision Gable particularly as it relates to the limited channels
delivered at this time and the FM music channel. At Mr. Dixson*s
suggestion, the Board voted to hold a public meeting on Tuesday,
May 5 at the town hall to allow citizens to present their views
on Vision Cable’s service and performance. A copy of the agree- .
ment between the Town and Vision Cable is available for review at
town hall during business hours.
DQAKD HEARS REPORTS At the meeting of the Board of Commissioners
on April 7i Commissioner Jerome reviewed the
ON CAMA. BUILDING status of the town’s CAI4A Land Use Plan, and
announced that another public hearing on this
matter will be held after a review of the plan has been returned
from the State. The Board also approved a /f4-unit extension of
condominiums in the Westport subdivision.
Commissioner Aubrey Johnson announced he had received a call from
the County Communications Center of the Sheriff’s office requesting
that residents use two different telephone numbers for emergency
calls. To call police, residents of Pine Knoll Shores should call
S-72^-3772, and to call for fire and rescue use S-72S-'/flll*
However, he pointed out that these numbers are for emergency use
only and not for inquiries. The Board also will urge the County
Commissioners to adopt one emergency number for the County.
Commissioner Johnson also reported that the present EI-TT course being
conducted at town hall is nearing conclusion. Follov/ing completion,
the participants will be phased into the Rescue Squad by riding
the ambulance with present EMT’s to continue their training. Mayor
Cleveland took the occasion to express the gratitude of the citi
zens of the town for the time and effort these people have taken to
provide Pine Knoll Shores with adequate rescue and first aid
services on a volunteer basis.
Commissioner Brad Smith reported that the town has now on hand, and
shortly will erect. No Parking signs along Salter Path Road. These
signs were removed when the road was rebuilt last year.
Following his monthly report on police activities, Commissioner
Jack Thompson reiterated the unleashed dog ordinance and asked that
citizens take heed of the ordinance. It reads:
’’Section 1. Animals At Large. No horses, goats, cattle or other
animals, including dogs and cats, shall be permitted to be
unleashed within the Town limits. All animals (except on the
property of the animal owner) caught running at large shall be
impounded by the town police or dog catcher, and unless claimed
within four days shall be disposed of as the Town shall deem
best.
