SHORE LINE ^Published by The Town of Pine Knoll Shores In The Interests Of Its Citizens Post Office Box 757, Atlantic Beach, N. C. 28512 Volume II Number 12 September, 19^1 . G* W--Eastland - Editor Lenora Roberson, Associate Editor BOARD SETS LIQUOR The Pine Knoll Shores Board of Commissioners at the August k meeting, voted unanimously for a VOTE FOR NOVEI/IBER referendum on liquor by the drink to be held at the time of the general election in November. The meeting was attended by residents of the town and by the managers and/or owners of the several motels located in Pine Knoll Shores* These included Ruth Bray and A. C. Hall, of the Atlantis; Jeff Fazio of the Holiday Inn; Don Creech of the John Yancey; Doren Kilpatrick of the Ramada, and Roger Champine of the V/haler Inn. Ruth Bray acted as spokesperson for the group, although each did individually express themselves on the matter. During the discussion, it was pointed out that in the event the citizens voted to reject liquor by the drink in the town, the matter could not be brought up again for three years. Commissioner Dixson also expressed the opinion that the sale of liquor by the drink would attract additional transients to the town which could result in add itional expenses for police and rescue calls. The board again, however, emphasized its position that it would take no stand on the vote, with the decision being entirely in the hands of the voters. COMMITTEE MEMBERS Mayor Cleveland recommended the following appoint-t^ ments to standing committees of the town and which NAMED BY BOARD were subsequently approved by the Board.Joining the Planning Board for two year terms are Curt Johnson, Fred Korff, Winston Seale, and Luke Hargroves. They will serve with Bob Armstrong, Jack Greata, George Hillard, and George Zeller, whose terms expire in September, 19^2. Members of the Community Appearance Commission appointed for three year terms vwre Mary Doll, Martie Hare, Ralph Merrick and Gordon Gibson who will serve with Frank Johnson, George Hillard and George Hitch.
