Eastland - Editor Lenora Roberson - Associate Editor EIECTION .PRODUCES To the surprise of almost no one, the proposition for liquor by the drink was defeated at the polls in Pine £±11* §-yRPRlSES Knoll Shores on Tuesday, November 3* The vote was 1^4 ssainst and 143 for the proposition. In the election for commissioners there were three openings on the Board and the three candidates ran mopposed. Votes for each were: Gtordon Gibson - 31O; Jack Thompson - 292, aid Wayne Cleveland - 277. A total of 334 votes viere cast by residents of Pine Knoll Shores. —M,*,? 2ML The Coastal Resource Commission, which has been considering town’s Cama Land Use Plan announced approval of that submitted by Pine Knoll Shores, it was announced at the Tuesday, November 10 meeting of the Board of Commissioners. The plan can now be implemented. Also at the meeting, the commissioners received the report of the auditing irm, which examined the town’s books, and who took the occasion to compliment the town on^its presentation, and the manner in which the accoimts are maintained. The report indicated the town is in sound financial condition. The report also commented favorably on the adoption by the towTi of establishing reserves, or sinld.n'^ funds for the replacement of capital items. ’ The presentation v;as made by Paul Hamlin, of the firm of Neighbors, Neal, Hamlin & Balbirer. ’ In his report to the commissioners Building Inspector Bob Hops said he had issued permits^for the construction of two residential buildings a.id two miscellaneous structures^during October. He said presently under construction in Pine Knoll Shores are 11 residential buildings, three condominium units and two commercial structures. He also reported that 2 certificates of occupancy v;ere issued in October. Smii^h, commissioner for public properties, in his report, took the occasion to thank and compliment iCrma Johnson for the landscaping work she and others have done aroimd the Town Hall, v;hich he said had enhanced the property/.
