OUR NEW Dee and John McCormick came from Greenville, Pa. Their
new home is next door to the Councils at 129 Loblolly Drj^B,
NEIGHBORS Dee and Jim are cousins. John had retired from his job
as Superintendent of Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad at
Pittsburgh. He is interested in photography, fishing, golf, tennis,
flying and playing country and blue grass guitar. Some time ago, Dee
taught social studies. She likes sewing, reading and cooking. Both
enjoy playing bridge. They have two married daughters, one lives in
Florida and the other in West Middlesex, Pa. and one grand daughter.
Elaine and John Main live at VJhite Ash Drive. They came from
Brunswick, Georgia. He is Executive Officer aboard the "Primrose”,
a buoy tender, sailing along the North Carolina Coast. He has been
in the Coast Guard for eighteen years. He enjoys golf, fishing, jogging
and vegetable gardening. Elaine had worked as Director of Social
Service in a nursing home in Brunswick. Her hobbies are tennis, reading,
handicrafts, cross stitch, macrame, ceramics and cooking. Tammy,
fourteen, is a freshman at West Carteret. Her interests are horseback
riding, swimming, tennis, photography and French Club. Cindy, age ten,
is in the fifth grade at Morehead Elementary and works on the school
newspaper. John is nine and is in the third grade and his interest
is in little league football. Both Cindy and John like bike riding and
swimming. They have a bull dog, about a year and half old, named Bubba.
Virginia and Powell Mahaffey came from Florence, Mississippi,
located 12 miles from Jackson, and now live at 203 Oakleaf Drive. Th^j^
traveled up and down the coast and decided to settle in this area.
Powell was a printer and had his own business. Although retired, he
is working as a full time maintenance man at the Holiday Inn. He
likes quail hunting, fishing, bridge and poker. At one time, Virginia
worked as a bookkeeper and secretary. She enjoys reading, fishing,
walking the beach, bridge and poker. They have two sons and one
daughter and five grand children. They also have a great bird dog, a
ten year old liver pointer, named Queenie. Olga Hedrick
RESCUE SQUAD WILL The Pine Knoll Shores Rescue Squad announces
it is starting a recruiting drive aimed at
START NEW EMT PROGRAM signing!; up volunteers for enrollment in an
EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) class to
be held here during the Winter. All those interested in learning how
to provide this interesting and satisfying service to our community
should contact Harry Schlimper, Chief at 726-1032, or Corinne Geer
or Brenda Cox at the Town Hall, 726-^021.
