COMISSIONER’S At the Commissioner’s meeting of November 9, Com
missioner Dixson gave his financial report stating
MEETING that during October the Tovm had disbursed some
$22,000 and had 'received about $49,000. The Com
missioner was hopeful that there would be a 95fo tax collection by the
end of this calendar year.
Commissioner Gibson has received 3 bids for painting the exterior
of the Town Hall. This work will be undertaken shortly. Resurfacing
of the Oakleaf Drive bridge is to begin in a week or so. In addition,
at the request of the Mayor, Commissioner Gibson will undertake a
study of what would be involved in constructing a municipal parking
lot near the Town Hall; particularly to accommodate boat trailers and
the like in order to improve the general appearance of the Town. On
Commissioner Gibson’s proposal, it was decided to join with the State
in a program for biennial bridge inspection, the cost to be shared
with the State.
According to Commissioner Jerome, the Planning Board has proposed
an amendment to the General Ordinances which would require that within
3 months after the expiration of the license of a "junked" vehicle, the
o\mer must remove it or obstruct it from public view. The amendment
was adopted,
A public hearing on various proposed ordinance changes will be
held on December 14 at 1:30 P.M., to be followed by the regular
monthly meeting of the Board. Details of these proposals will appear
in the printed notice of the meeting.
Commissioner Jerome stated that 3 building permits were issued in
October and that at the end of that month there were 17 private resid
ences and 4 condominiums (consisting of 117 units) under construction
in the Town.
Commissioner Johnson reported that the Rescue Squad had responded
to 3 calls in October and he described their participation in the
