SHORE LINE by The Town of Pine Knoll Shores In The Interests Of Its Citizens Post Office Box 757, Atlantic Beach, N. C. 28512 Volume IV Niimber 3 Ken Haller and Noel Yancey - Co-Editors December 1982 MAYOR CLEVELAND LCX)KS AHEAD TO 1983 Noel Yancey, Co-Editor of the Shoie Line has asked me to write an article about what Pine Knoll Shores wants to accomplish in 1983. In the first place I'm positive that the majority of our residents want to retain the strict ordinances we have which help maintain the natural beauty of the coastal vegetation. While we want the natural growth we all object to brush from cleared lots being left on rights-of-way and we are preparing an ordinanos to mandate the removal of such brush. Most of our streets were built prior to our town being chartered and they are beginning to need repair and resurfacing. Plans are being prepared to do this resur facing on a regular schedule. The next to be paved is the old paved section just west of the Oakleaf bridge. We are considering the possibility of paving with open faced cement blocks, a parking lot back of the town hall. This parking lot would be for parking boats and trailers so that they could be taken out of front yards, A parking lot in this location could be protected. In 1982, we included in the budget money for a new fire truck. The primary need of the truck was to carry water. Rather than get the truck we have convinced the water company to run water mains up Oakleaf Drive from Willow to Salter Path Road and loop it in with the Salter Path main. With the added mains we will install ten additional fire hydrants, Suggestions have been made that we clear the pond in front of the town hall and install a fountain. This would not only beautify the pond but would help control mosquitoes. No decisions have been made but the suggestion will be given consideration. The McGinnis Point development is well under way and we should see much progress made there in 1983* Fairway Villas, just off Salter Path Road on Oakleaf Drive are progressing and these too should be completed in 1983* Several plans for the development of the property on the north side of Oakleaf Drive and just west of the country club have been submitted. Revised plans have been prepared which should be presented to the various building committees soon and we can TOWN OF PINE KNOLL SHORES Post Office Box 757 Atlantic Beach, N. C. 28512 Bulk Rate U. S.
