However, it does mean several commissioners share the sentiments of Commissioner Bill Dixson who proposed the annexation steps be taken at the December meeting, Dixson suggested that the town should take in the area before **it gets all cluttered up" developers. At their session, the board heard Commissioner Larry Jerome report that during 1982 Certificates of Occupancy were issued to JO residential units valued at $2.5 million, 45 condominium units valued at $7 million and two commercial units valued at $164,000, This gives an indication of how fast our town is growing. Mayor Wayne Cleveland appointed Commissioners Aubrey Johnson and Dixson to investigate the pros and cons of the town obtaining a computer. The mayor also named Johnson, Bob Ames and Harry Schlimper to a committee to investigate the town's need for a replacement ambulance and how much it would cost. At its December meeting, the board had delayed for 30 days action on a proposed amendment to the Sign Ordinance which would eliminate a "Grandfather Clause," The John Yancey Motel and the Holiday Inn have requested changes in the proposed amendment. It was suggested that Don Creech, general manager of the John Yancey, be authorized to speak on behalf of all motels in the town. To afford Mr, Creech an opportunity to contact all of the motel people, the board voted to delay action on the proposed amend ment for ainother 30 days. Commissioner Jack Thompson pointed out that 1983 automobile tags are now on sale at the Town Hall ($1 each) and he suggested that the commissioners lead the way in purchasing them. Judging from the crowd in the Clerk's Office following the meeting, the commissioners were prompt in complying with the suggestion. TOWN OF PINE KNOLL SHORES Post Office Box 757 Atlantic Beach, N.
