MEET SHORE LINE
For those who may be reading Shore Line for the first time, this is by way of
introduction and explanation. Shore Line is a monthly newspaper published by
the Town of Pine Knoll Shores to keep its citizenry informed about their
community.
Subscription is free, and the paper is mailed automatically to all permanent
residents. All property owners, whether residents or not, can get on the
mailing list by writing the Town Hall with such a request. Shore Line is
being sent this month to all Pine Knoll Shores property owners in the hope
that more of them will ask to get on the mailing list. Your request may be

The PKS Town Board at its May meeting unanimously approved Commissioner Hoot Gibson's
request for authority to employ an engineer to make a survey of what Gibson described as a
serious drainage problem in the section of town lying east of Willow Road.
BOARD ASKS Gibson told the Board that drainage of the area between Willow Road and the
canal presents no real problem, but that providing drainage for the area to
DRAINAGE the east of the road "presents a real problem."
STUDY ”No one realizes how bad the problem is -until he walks over the area," Gibson
said. He pointed out that on Juniper Road there are houses actually sitting
in water. He noted that the houses have cesspools raising "the possibility of houses in
the town which are not livable,"
After the meeting at which Mayor Wayne Cleveland and Commissioner Bill Dixson urged
immediate action on the survey, Gibson said he would act quickly to employ an engineer who
would be asked to make the survey, pinpoint problems and recommend solutions.
