So, on behalf of the entire Town, we say **God bless, **Get well soon" and “Come on home!** The PKS Town Board began iti^ study of an engineering firm's recommendations for improving drainage in the eastern portion of town at its October 11 meeting by voting to extend for 60 days a moratorium on construction in part of the affected area. DIUINAGE PLAN Mayor Pro-Tem Bill Dixson, who was presiding due to the ilness of Mayor STUDY BEGBGS Cleveland, recommended extending the moratorium while a number of ——— qiuestions in connection with the drainage recommendations are settled. He said these questions would include whether the town would bear part of the cost estimated by the firm of Henry Von Oesen and Associates at $150,000 or more. Commissioner Aubrey Johnson made the motion to extend the building moratorium aind suggested that a public hearing be held at which representatives of the engineering firm would be available to explain their recommendations and to answer questions, Dixson noted that it would take some time before work can begin on the drainage recommendations. Plans would have to be made to raise the money, and these would have to be submitted to a vote of the people. The proposals plan call for digging drainage ditches from the vicinity of Juniper Road to carry runoff water to the canal. The ditches would follow existing drainage rights-of-way for the most part. The Von Oesen firm estimated it would cost an additional $50,000 to enclose the drainage ditches with pipe. The moratorium on building applies to some 21 lots lying between the canal and Juniper Road, the Bogue Banks Country Club property, areas surrounding the cul-de-sacs on the north side of Salter Path Road just east of Juniper and a tract at the eastern end of Cypress Drive. The 'boaxd discussed, but did not take final action on a rewrite of the town's water ways ordinance after Commissioner Larry Jerome stated that the rewrite included several substantive changes.
