Ledford High School, Since moving to the Crystal Coast she has been — teaching English at Carteret Commiinity College, The Blackwells enjoy coastal living, Jim is particularly interested in boating and fishing. He also has a pilot's license and likes to fly, Doris plays golf but her very favorite activity is painting. She works in all media, concentrating on portraits for the most part. Her work is effectively displayed throughout the house. The Blackwells came to know Pine Knoll Shores through the Engstroms who have owned property on Oakleaf for many years, Trudy Engstrom is Doris' sister, Jim's knowledge of the area through his business confirmed the choice. They have one son living in Winston-Salem, Dick and Wanda Lettan of 10? Walnut Circle come to Pine Knoll Shores from Pittsford, New York, Dick was a project engineer for Kodak specializing in the design of medical equipment. Before joining Kodak he worked in the aerospace program where he took many simtilated trips to the moon and outer space, Wanda was in the insurance business in Pittsford, They are both retired now. The Lettans have five children and four grandchildren scattered from upstate New York to Hawaii, Their oldest is a colonel in the Air Force and their youngest is a stu- ,ent of electronic engineering. About ten years ago they decided to look for their retirement location and made a systematic search up and down the coast. When they found Pine Knoll Shores they knew they had found it. They are impressed with the community and expect to do a lot of the boating
