A public hearing on the Landscaping Permit proposed ordinance will be schedule for January 14 at 1 p.m. The Land Use Update committee has CGHMISSIONERS prepared a questionnaire and survey which they hope will be rettrned to them by January 10 and tabulated in time for the public hearing on PASS OroiNANCE January 29. Commissioner Sullivan announced that garbage collections will be as usual over the Chr'istmas holidays. He went on to say that several places where the shoulders of our streets have been seeded and fertilized have been cut 143 by vehicles riding over them indiscriminately and asked that residents seeing vehicles doing this report it to the Town Hall. The mailboxes, in some places, are set too far back so that the mail person must ride up on the shoulder to deliver the mail. It is suggested that residents move their boxes so that the mail carrier will not have to leave the pavement in order to reach the box. Mayor Hanan announced the resignation of Andrew McNally as Director of Civil Prepar edness effective January 1st, and recognition was given to the fine work he had done. Joe Henyecz will be the new Dic^ector of Preparedness while Gil Millington will be in charge of Recovery after the storm. The mayor also announced that Thomas Smith of the Forest Service had written him th^^^ he would be running the tussock moth egg survey again in January. Residents were reminded of the Christmas party at the Town Hall on Monday, December 23rd at 3:00 p.m. At approximately 4:30 the Christmas parade—replete with Santa and his elves—will begin. They will proceed from the Town Hall to Arborvitae, to Salter Path Road, to Loblolly Drive, up Mimosa to Hawthorne, Sycamore and Beechwood, back to Mimosa to Oakleaf as far as the Club. There they will turn around and come back as far as Juniper, thence to Cypress as far as Cedar and on up to Salter Path Road and back to station. Sij^ly there is some spot along that route from which you will be able to cheer them on. The Town Hall will be closed December 24, 25, and 28. ------- oGo ------- Town Clerk, Corinne Geer, administered the oath of office to Aubrey Johnson, John Shedd and Dan Sotir and they took their places at the council table. Commissioners Thompson, Gibson and Sullivan received a standing ovation from those NEW COMMISSIONERS present as they left the table. They were presented with silver bowls as a token of the Town’s appreciation. Chief Crawford of the Fire INSTALLED Department read a resolution prepared by the firemen thanking John Thompson for all he had done while he was in office. Gil Millington then offered tribute to Gordon (Hoot) Gibson for his support as commissioner in charge of the Rescue Squad. The Commissioners then elected Ken Hanan Mayor and Emily White Mayor Pro-tem, and announced the assignments for all the commissioners. Fred Libby will continue with Planning; Emily White will become Commissioner of Fire and Police Departments; Dan Sotir will be responsible For Rescue; John Shedd, Streets and Public property and Aubrey Johnson, Finance and Administration. _______ oOo -------
