Today there are more than 400 club members. 8000 non-member guests used the golf ^ course in 1385, and apparently are coming back in even greater numbers this year. For the first time, regular operating income in 1985 exceeded required expenditures, and work is underway on the development of a long range capital investment and improvement plan for presentation to the membership. It looks as if one of these days BBCC will have reached its capacity and, by gosh, will be putting future members on a waiting list! It is quite possible, too, that non-member participation in club activities may have to be limited. If anyone would like to see a very thorough history of the club, there are some extra copies of the one Bill Bosse, 1980 club president, wrote in 1982. Ann Hinkle knows where they are, and she reports that a new club roster is being put together for printing some time in May. As potential new members begin lining up to join, they will do well to keep in mind the hardy ones who, with determination, have kept BBCC going, through times rarely simple. By the way, golfers can get sandwiches, snacks, and drinks in the Pro Shop these days. What a long way they’ve come since my Mother and I stopped in that day in 1972. NEW BRIDGE TRAFFIC PROBLEMS The DOT is presently setting up a committee chaired by Deputy Assistant Secretary Jerry Hardesty called "The Atlantic Beach-Morehead City Bridge Advisory Committee” which will be studying the traffic congestion problems which may arise when the bridge nears completion. In order to keep abreast of local concerns and receive input from local residents both during and after completion of the bridge, members include officials from the various towns nearby. Mayor Hanan will serve on this committee. He assures Shore Line that he will welcome any constructive suggestions from townspeople. Get them to him -- preferably in writing — and he will pass them on to the full committee.
