[Maybe even all but one]. Art Gill of the Anser-Quik Ccsnmunications had offered his pro fessional services as observer and had many constructive suggestions. Otherisdid, too, and everbody learned a lot! If a disaster ever does hit Pine Knoll Shores, plans for orderly re-entry and restoration of the Town are well advanced. Remember that all kinds of help will be needed, skilled and unskilled, physical and clerical. Be sure to volunteer sane time if you possibly can. Once again we have attached important information about what to do in case of a hurricane and we suggest that you read it and then put it in an accessible place. The hurricane season has started. Be ready! Extra copies are available at the Town Hall. If you know someone who is just visiting and does not get The Shore Line please direct himAier to the Town Hall to get a copy. _________ oOo COMMISSIONERS MEET In order to meet the deadline for submission of the Land Use Update for Coastal Resources Commission July consideration, the commissioners held a special meeting on June 28th. At the recommendation of Commissioner Libby a Policy Statement was added to establish the document as a planning tool but to reserve the right of the governing body to make changes in zoning etc. which might be necessary in the future as long as they are compatible with the Land Use Plan. With other wording changes the plan was approved. At the regular July meeting Mayor Hanan called attention to the new wall clock do nated by the Pine Knoll Shores Women's Club. It is attractive and large enough to be seen by all in the meeting room. This donation is gratefully appreciated. The Commissioners made their reports. Commissioner Johnson reported that the town is in the "black" and 97% of tax revenues were collected - the remaining 3% being tied up by bankruptcy litigation. Commissioner Libby reported that the Land Use Update was sutraitted and is on the agenda of the CRC meeting to be held on July 23rd at [tentatively] 1:00 p.m. at the Duke Marine Lab on Pivers Island. Commissioner Shedd said that mosquito control has begun, marl has been placed on some street corners, and fill for the pond in back of the Town Hall has been obtained. Other plans call for carpeting in the lobby of the building. Commissioner Sotir reported 13 rescue calls in June and the acquisition of a new "Resusci-Annie" already in use for training in CPR. Commissioner White reported no fires in June and the usual summer activity of the Police Department. Police investigated the theft of money from the N. C. Aquarium, apparently done by a person hiding in the building overnight. As part of her report Commissioner White recommended adoption of the following amendments to the ordinance controlling security alarm systems: 1. A permit is required to be obtained from the Building Inspector. All systems must be registered with the Town. 2. Names of two persons who can de-activate the system must be sutxnitted. 3. Noncompliance is subject to penalty if ten days after notification that the system must be repaired, de-activated or removed, it has not been done thenieach day thereafter constitutes a new and separate violation. First offense carries a $15 fine, second $25 and subsequent offenses $50 plus court costs in all cases. This amendment was passed and becomes effective immediately.
