SHORE LINE Published by The Town of Pine Knoll Shores In The Interests Of Its Citizens The March meeting of the Commissioners was held March 17th. Budget changes appro priating $2000 plus to update the telephone system in the Town Hall, $11,000 plus for a police car and $1000 plus for tax refunds and releases were voted. Also - Commissioner Johnson reported that 98% of taxes had been collected and delinquents would be advertised while a recommendation of foreclosure on 1985 unpaid taxes was approved in the amount of $3,566. Commissioner Roderick said that with the help of Carteret-Craven EMC some holes were and filled with stones on Acorn Court in an effort to correct the storm water problem there. Mayor Hanan announced the retirement from the Board of Adjustment of Bob Armstrong for reasons of ill health. Bob's many years of service to the Town was recognized—first as Planning Board Chairman and then as member of the Board of Adjustment. His level-headed judgments and extensive knowledge of the ordinances will be missed m that Board's functioning. Liz Britton, alternate member of the Board of Adjustment, was appointed a regular member to fill the vacancy. The feasibility of leasing a parcel of town property to Stephanie Goetzinger for the OWLS program [Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter] is under study. The parcel is on Pine Knoll Boulevard behind the proposed shopping center. It will be referred to the proper committees for recommendation. An accusation of conflict of interest had been brought to the Board of Commissioners regarding Town Attorney, Ken Kirkman, by Maureen Parker, Although the Commissioners could go into executive session to act on this. Attorney Kirkman requested, and they agreed, that they deliberate this publicly. Kirkman made a statement in answer to the accusations. The Commissioners had studied the material and found that there was no substantiation of the charges.
