Prior to the regular meeting of the Commissioners, a public hearing was held on

officer for clarification of certain items there were no comments or challenges from
the floor. The hearing was closed in less than 5 minutes.
As a part of his report commissioner Johnson recommended the budget ordinance
calling for $770,618 in total expenditures and in revenues to cover them. $89,923 was
appropriated to the reserve fund and estimated there would be revenues to cover it. Tax
rate will remain at 19 cents per $100.
Steps were taken to comply with the State regulation concerning a more detailed
audit and Margaret Carruthers will be retained to carry it out.
Other matters in his report concerned personnel, mostly clarification of certain
points therein. Some discussion ensued concerning the policy of giving compensatory
•time as opposed to overtime pay to police officers for time spent in compulsory training.
Compensatory will continue to be the policy until such time as a more thorough study
of the problem can be completed.
