• SHORE LINE Published by The Town of Pine Knoll Shores In The Interests Of Its Citizens Town Hall: 247-4353 Emergency Phones: Police: 728-3772 F1re & Rescue; 728-4111 VOLUME IX - Number 6 June 1988 Mary Korff - Editor COMMISSIONERS MEET Prior to the regular meeting of the Commissioners, a public hearing was held on the proposed budget for 1988-1989. Except for a couple of questions to the budget officer for clarification of certain items there were no comments or challenges from the floor. The hearing was closed in less than 5 minutes. As a part of his report commissioner Johnson recommended the budget ordinance calling for $770,618 in total expenditures and in revenues to cover them. $89,923 was appropriated to the reserve fund and estimated there would be revenues to cover it. Tax rate will remain at 19 cents per $100. Steps were taken to comply with the State regulation concerning a more detailed audit and Margaret Carruthers will be retained to carry it out. Other matters in his report concerned personnel, mostly clarification of certain points therein. Some discussion ensued concerning the policy of giving compensatory •time as opposed to overtime pay to police officers for time spent in compulsory training. Compensatory will continue to be the policy until such time as a more thorough study of the problem can be completed. Commissioner Roderick gave the Building Inspection report consisting of 1 residential permit, no commercial permits, 7 miscellaneous reports and 1 certificate of occupancy. The Planning Board acitivity v\^ill be covered below. Commissioner Sotir reported 17 rescue calls in May. He also announced that two new EWs have been added to the squad but more are needed. There will be a course starting July 19th. If you can consider giving this service and have any questions con tact him, the Town Hall or the Squad Chief. Commissioner White reported 174 police calls, 154 traffic violations, 29 breatho- lizer tests, 6 larcenies investigated.
