etc. This survey will have no effect on the owners' insurance claims, it only concerns government support. This report, in its final form, is required within three days after the storm. POST-DISASTER ASSISTANCE a. Emergency Housing. The Pine Knoll Shores Emergency Housing Coordinator will survey the town to determine the availability of housing in motels and condominium rental units. Residents with space available for temporary relief of the homeless are asked to report the availability to Town Hall. Those residents whose homes are un inhabitable or inaccessible should request assistance from Town Hall. b. Federal and State Disaster Relief. The State of North Carolina will establish a Disaster Assistance Center [daC] at Carteret Technical College; alternate site is West Carteret High School. Pine Knoll Shores will have a Liaison Officer at the DAC to assist residents and business owners in applying for assistance. This help may include; temporary housing, mortgage and rental payment for people with disaster- created financial hardships, individual and family grants, legal services, crisis counseling, food coupons, SBA loans. Social Security and Veterans Administration assistance, tax relief, and consumer assistance. c. Public Utilities. Pine Knoll Shores will establish liaison with the utilities that serve the town to coordinate restoration of service according to priority and need. Residents should report home utility conditions to Town Hall. Information on utility restoration progress will be provided upon request. d. Emergency Ccxiinunications. If necessary. Pine Knoll Shores will establish a ham radio net with local operators to provide a flow of survivor information for relatives in the outside world. e. Reconstruction Building Permits. The Pine Knoll Shores Building Inspector will expedite the issue of building permits required for reconstruction. The Federal Govern ment may declare a moratorium on reconstruction in certain areas considered unsafe in the public interest. However, all residents should act promptly to obtain estimates of rebuilding requirements and procure materials. H-E-L-P!!!!!!! To accomplish the above actions, the town officials will need all the help they can get. All mature citizens are urged to volunteer their skills and equip ment. We need clerks for record keeping, and responding to the public, typists to prepare reports, observers to report intruders from outside, labor with axes and saws.
