C. 28512 Town Hall: 247-4353 Emergency Phones: Police: 728-3772 Fire & Rescue: 728-4111 VOLUME X - Number 2 February 1989 Mary Korff, Editor COMMISSIONERS MEET In the absence of Mayor Hanan, Mayor pro-tem Evan Roderick conducted the Town Board meeting on Fabruary l^th. Commissioner Aubrey Johnson was also absent but there was a quorum present. Corinne Geer, Budget Officer, gave the financial report. As of January 31st, 73% of revenues has been received and 58% of budgeted expenditures has been disbursed. Property taxes collected as of that date amount to 96.7 percent, an impressive figure. Ms. Geer requested that the list of uncollected taxes be published in the news paper on April 11, 1989 and the Commissioners so ordered. Response to the request to identify the pot holes in Town streets has been small. He is still accepting services of volunteers to help clean up the boat parking lot on Friday, February 25 [rain date February 26]. Don't forget that refreshments will be served. New helper with public property chores is Frank Herbst, replacing Andy Turney who has resigned. Commissioner Shedd gave the Building Inspector's report. There were 5 residential permits, 1 commercial permit, 3 miscellaneous permits and 1 certificate of occupancy issued in January. Mr. Sliedd also reported on the Planning Board meeting which information is contained in the Planning Board article which follows. The surfing restriction ordinance which will prohibit surfing within 200 feet from the center line of any commercial fishing pier was then presented for vote. It provides that Pier owners be responsible for clearly delineating the restricted area. The ordinance also requires any person within the Town of Pine Knoll Shores with a surf board to have a strap or shockcord attached to his/her ankle, a minimum of 4 feet in length, attached to the surfoard at all times.
