Editor MEET YOUR CANDIDATES This year we have four candidates running for the three openings on the Board of Commissioners coming up in November. Aubrey Johnson and John Shedd are standing for re- election. David Hasulak and Lee Blanchard are the other two. You will have a chance to meet them, hear their views, and ask them questions on CANDIDATES' NIGHT to be held on Thursday, October 26th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall. Rachel Mangum will conduct the meeting. COMMISSIONERS MEET The October meeting of the Commissioners set a record for brevity. We have often heard how other governing bodies have meetings that go on and on and on while in Pine Knoll Shores they get the business done and adjourn their meetings without letting them drag on! This, however, was the best yet! One half hour was all! Yet business was done. Commissioner Johnson reported that 32% of revenues were collected and 20% of expenditures made in this fiscal year to date. He further reported that there is still $19 to be collected on last year's taxes which should be paid soon. As for 89-90, 28% has been collected to date. Upon his recommendation three actions were taken. Four calculators in disrepair will be disposed of. The personnel amendment, extending the step chart to take care of those employees who have been with the town for longer than the chart covered before, was presented and passed. A revision in the cash management policy to allow up to 50% of total funds to be held in a single financial institution was voted. Commissioner Roderick announced that arrangements have been made to have a pick up of trash too large for regular pickup. The date for this is THURSDAY, OCTOBER ^ 26th_^ Have your items on the right-of-way by 7:30 a.m. This is for things like appliances, furniture but it is NOT FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE! Paint cans and such cannot be collected. Commissioner Shedd reported on the Planning Board and the Community Appearance Com mission whose reports appear below. The building inspector's report showed 3 residential permits, 5 miscellaneous permits and 5 certificates of occupancy were issued in September.
