Page -5- the concussion; during that time she was fed only mealworms and shelled sunflower - we didn't want her to further injure the beak by cracking seeds! We decided that a beak repair was necessary; if the cardinal broke off her beak in the wild, she would be unable to eat and would starve to death. A new technique was used— the medical equivalent of Crazy Glue!! After two days for the glue to set, we gave her an acorn and held our breaths. She cracked it neatly in half and the beak held firm! A test flight in our aviary showed good balance and elevation, so she was returned to Oakleaf Drive, and is probably eating at one of your feeders another miracle of modern science. 0 W.. L.S. December and January Storytime programs on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 are planned for pre-schoolers with stories, films, and favors. Sunday March 25th, will be circled in red on my calendar for opening day ceremonies at the new library. We will all be on hand to thank each of you in person for your contributions which helped make this special day possible. It would not have been accomplished without you. That's the good news. The bad news is we were unable to order all the furnishings we need. However, Jesse Milliken, of Institutional Interiors, will continue to make his cost prices available to us through the end of December, 1989. If we can raise some additional funds, or collect pledges for payment by March 31, 1990, it will still be possible to place another order during the next couple of weeks. Anything you can con tribute will make a difference. The librarian will have a desk; the browsing area will have chairs. However, the meeting room, so far, will have seating on the floor. WE NEED YOU! Diane Donovan, President Friends of the Bogue Banks Public Library Enclosed is my check for $ to purchase additional furnishings for the Bogue Banks Public Library. lA^e pledge $ ^to purchase additional furnishings for the Bogue Banks Public Library to be paid no later than March 31, 1990.
