COMMISSIONERS MEET
The July meeting of the Commissioners was called to order as usual even though the
air conditioning in the Town Hall had suffered abreakdown and was under repair. They
met by the front entrance. Fans were blowing at full force and every time the front
door opened a blast of hot air came in like outdoors was a furnace—which indeed it
seemed to be.
Commissioner Blanchard had no report on public streets and property but did ask
that canmissioners consider adding a grievance procedure to the personnel ordinance.
A draft of this was given to all Commissioners for their study.
Commissioner Gibson reported that police answered 165 calls and made 212 house checks
in June. He also announced a new policy for drug testing all new applicants and any
officers presently employed when there is reason to believe that this officer is using
drugs. Also, officers will now be able to pursue a two year college course in applied
^^cience or an Associate Arts degree in criminal justice.
Commissioner Hasulak reported seven rescue calls, but no fire calls in June. [July
calls will be reported next month]. He also reminded all of the meeting to be held by
Civil Preparedness July 11 to inform residents of what to do in case of hurricane threats.
Everyone is reminded to UPDATE THE RE-ENTRY PERMIT before an emergency is upon us. Re
entry restrictions will be enforced. [Shore Line has attached the procedure in case

Commissioner Johnson reported 104% of revenues collected in fiscal year 89-90 and
89% of expenditures made. Tax collection was 100% allowing for the delay in collecting
for the property in bankruptcy..
Johnson asked the board to approve the $140,000 expenditure for the drainage project,
which they did. Also he recommended that an ordinance allowing the Town Clerk be autho
rized to dispose of surplus property no longer necessary to the Town and worth less than
$500. This passed.
Commissioner Roderick gave the building Inspector's report. There were two residen
tial permits, five miscellaneous permits and three certificates of occupancy issued in
June.
