MayorHanan.called for comments from the audience. Muriel Chapin proposed that the ordi nance ought to be relaxed so that persons holding a yard sale would be allowed to post homemade signs to advertise the sale. Ms. Chapin also proposed limiting the posting of signs to no more that two a year and that the signs be removed within 24 to 48 hours of the event. Frank Johnson objected to Real Estate signs that remain posted even after the sale of the property. Commissioner Blanchard suggested that the town design and construct yard sale signs and that they then could be offered for a small fee to residents who are conducting a sale. Amendments to the Sign Ordinance were proposed during the regular monthly Commis sioners' meeting. Highlights of the meeting of the Board of Commissioners included an amendment to the Municipal Code that will require all single family residential homes within town to dis play the numerical street address that is visible from the nearest street right-of-way. This amendment is necessary for the implementation of the 911 Emergency response program. Mayor Hanan reported that as of October 20, mail delivery will be moved from the Morehead City Post Office to Atlantic Beach. This means a change of the Zip Code for Pine Knoll Shores from 28557 to 28512. The Mayor also said that change of address cards will be available at the Town Hall. The Commissioners reports were as follows: Commissioner Blanchard noted that the Garden Club had received 150 azaleas from the "Keep North Carolina Beautiful" program, these flowering bushes will be planted in the Town Hall area. Mr. Blanchard also reported that the mosquito spraying program was delayed due to the past weeks inclement weather, but is back on schedule once again.
