MABEL HEMPHILL JANUARY AND DECEMBER BIRTHDAYS TO CELEBRATE Please note that the January Birthday party announced last month will also include December birthday people! At last the December people will not be ignored! If you have a birthday in either of these months come and join the fun! The party will be at Bogue Banks Country Club on January 23 at 8 p.m. There will be a charge of $4.00 per person to cover the cost of the club and the extras supplied by the committee. Who are they? PINE KNOLL SHORES GARDEN CLUB The Pine Knoll Shores Garden Club met January 9 at the Town Hall. After a business meeting conducted by President Vern Wallace, Joan Dawson intro duced our speaker, Susan Ferguson of the teaching staff of Tryon Palace in New Bern. Mrs. Ferguson's program was "A World of Dried Flowers". Jean Jane and her committee of Mary Hudak, Janet Hannula and Betty Gray served refreshments. After the meeting the members went to the Ramada Inn for lunch. A good time was had by alll ANN HITCH PINE KNOLL SHORES WOMEN'S CLUB The next meeting of the Pine Knoll Shores Womsn's Club will be held on Friday, January 25, 1991, at the Town Hall. Social hour from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 and following this, Jan Bean, news anchor with Channel WCTI-12, will speak. Ms. Bean has been the news anchor with Channel 12 for the past IB years and before that she worked in radio news. She is married, with 2 grown children and a grandchild and is a local resident of Carteret County. Because of Ms. Bean's busy schedule, the P.K.S.W.C. business meeting will be held after her program. We're looking forward to a large turnout for this very interesting program! Don*t forget the annual Arts B Crafts Show in February. This will be presented on Friday, February 22, 1991 at the Town Hall during the monthly meeting. Let's get busy with those projects! PAT NELSON ANCIENT MARINERS December being a short month because of the holidays, there's not much to report, but anyway here are the latest standings as of December 17. Bob Herbst's team #4 holds on to first place. Dave Hasulak [218] joined the men's 200+ club with repeater Les Scarpone bowling 200. Millie Herbst [191] joins the women's 180+ club. Hank Ingram [505] joins the men's 500+ club with the following repeaters: Bob Gallo, 521; Bob Herbst, 538; Art Stone 513, 542; Dave Hasulak, 527 and Les Scarpone, 572, who now holds series high.
