Y The SHORE LINE Published by The Town of Pine Knoll Shores In The Interests Of Its Citizens TOWN HALL: 247-4353 EMERGENCY PHONES: POLICE: 728-3772 FIRE & RESCUE: 728-4111/9^ VOLUME XII - Number 2 February 1991 Mary Korff ] „ ^ _ Co-Editors Bob Ruggiero ] PUBLIC HEARING The Board of Commissioners held a Public Hearing prior to the regular monthly Commis sioners’ meeting to consider several zoning ordinances concerning the clarification of the definition of Buildings, Structures, and Sheds, property setbacks and town land use limitations. Comments from those present included recommendations from Maureen Parker concerning protection of our Maritime Forest area. Ms. Parker read a prepared statement that addressed the need to protect the wetlands area from excavation and filling. Dr. Pete Peterson also commented on the need to preserve the Maritime Forest area by not allowing drainage in addition to site filling. COMMISSIONERS MEET Commissioner Blanchard asked residents to place all recyclable materials in their respective bins and place all paper bags in the container for recyclable cardboard. Waste Industries will install new signs designating the various containers and Commissioner Blanchard plans to install a walkway between containers to make it easier to place recycl- ables in the bin openings. Mr. Blanchard also issued a call for volunteers to assist in the design of a proposed Town Seal. [See article in this issue for details.] Commissioner Gibson reported that the Police Department answered 72 calls, made 264 house checks, and issued 12 traffic citations. Commissioner Hasulak reported on the low number of Fire and Rescue responses during January. There were only 2 rescue and 1 fire csll. Commissioner Hasulak reminded all residents that the 911 telephone number was for Bmergency use only. 911 should be used only when a rapid response is required. When other services are needed please dial 728-3722. Corinne Geer gave the financial report in the absence of Commissioner Johnson. Ex- - penditures for the month were $52,357, this brings the total yearly budget expenditure to 44% of budget.
