PLEASE DETACH AND SAVE REVISED 1991 HURRICANE EMERGENCY PROCEDURE PINE KNOLL SHORES RESIDENTS BEFORE THE STORM Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Hurricane Readiness conditions will be announced by the National Weather Service over radio and television. Official evacuation information will be given on Channels 7, 9, 12 and Radio Stations WMBL 740 AM; WBTB 1400 AM; WRHT 93.8 FM and WZYC 103.3 FM. The following preparatory actions are suggested: CONDITION 4 -- N-O-W Get your Pine Knoll Shores re-entry permits updated, or a new one issued at Town Hall. The blue re-pntry permit, currently validated for 1991 is required for access to the town; Pine Knoll Shores license tag and Associa tion stickers are not sufficient. Only heads of family will need a re-entry permit. The purpose is to allow a family member to determine if his home is fit for habitation or to request emergency housing from Town Hall, after officials declare the Town open. CONDITION 3 -HURRICANE WATCH a. Be alert for official atorm messages broadcast over radio and tele vision by authority of the Carteret County Emergency Management Center. These will be designated "Official". b. Notify Pine Knoll Shores Town Hall of invalids or other persons requiring evacuation assistance. Ambulance service can be provided. Check with Pine Knoll Shores Town Hall for rules governing evacuation procedures for invalids or persons requiring evacuation assistance. Do it NOW! Wait ing for a hurricane may be too late. c. STOCK A SUPPLY OF NON-PERISHABLE FOODS: A suggested supply of foods for emergencies includes: whole dry milk, canned fruit juices, canned meats and fish, meat substitutes, like beans, bread and crackers, peanut butter, dried fruits, dry cereal and granola bars and cookies. d. Secure boats and all outside objects that may become wind-blown projectiles. e. PREPARE FOR EVACUATION - Keep the following items in one place ao you can get to them easily; A battery operated radio with extra batteries, a flashlight with extra batteries, blankets or sleeping bags, paper plates, and utensils, including a bottle and can opener, candles and matches in a waterproof container or an oil or kerosene lantern, toilet articles and sanitary needs. An adequate supply of any medicines you take AND fill your gas tank. CONDITION 2 -- HURRICANE WARNING a. Evacuation order is expected before winds reach 45 m.p.h. Make final preparations! Notify friends or relatives regarding your planned ralocation. b. Turn off electricity at junction box for all except aelected lines, i.e. freezer. Turn off water at main house valve [not the valve at the meter]. Board or tape windows. c. Persons evacuating with RV's, boats and trailers must do so immed iately. They will not be permitted on the bridges when winds are higher or when evacuation is ordered.
