This increase is significant as State revenues that the Town receives are partially based on population count. The Town has received a check in the amount of $24,293, from 1990-91 sales taxes. The Town also received $70,180 in interest on investments for 1990-91. This figure represents 2.8% of total revenue received. $33,919 was received as incoming revenues, with expenses at $77,985. All the tax bills having been mailed, revenues will increase between now and the end of the year. Commissioner Gallo also read changes in the town’s personnel policies, and these were approved and passed. •Commissioner Gibson reported that the police answered 168 calls which included one break-in. He also presented to Chief Crawford an Advance Cer tificate Award issued to Sgt. Bob Hamilton from the North Carolina Department of Justice. Congratulations to Officer Bob! There has been a rash of petty thefts from boats on the canal, and residents are asked to report any suspicious activities on the canals to the Police Department. Commissioner Hasulak reported that the Rescue Squad responded to 9 calls for assistance and 3 transports during the recent evacuation. He also commended the Police Department on the orderly evacuation of the island during the last threat. Commissioner Hasulak pointed out that at the Isle of Palms during Hugo, there was a 20 foot water surge. One of the problems was the leaking of propane gas caused by buried propane tanks floating to the surface. Everyone is asked to turn off the propane AT THE TANK.
