Brock Basin and Hull Haven Editor's Corner I can remember when Jim & I moved to Pine Knoll Shores how thrilled we were to move to such a pretty, well-kept little town. Our only complaint was that it took neariy 6 months before anyone knew we had moved in. We knew that we paid our dues to an association but assumed it was at Town Hall, only to find out that you paid your association dues to the pertinent Association, your taxes to PKS and if you wanted access to the pari(s and stickers for your car, you went to the secretary of the Association who lives elsewhere. Soto clear up a few points, here's is what one does. To be put on the mailing list for the Shoreline, etc., please call Town Hall or drop them a note. Your property taxes are paid to Town Hall, your Association dues are paid to the Association, do Mary Lou or Jack Kay, 137 Oakleaf Drive, PKS. Office hours are 9;00AM-1:00PM M-F. I want to clarify here that there are two associations in the Town of Pine Knoll Shores, PIKSCO and Pine Knoll Association. There is no simple dividing line as which one your house might be in, so. If you are unsure as to which you belong to, please call the Kays. You may also obtain pari stickers for your cars and card keys for the sittums and paris from the Kays. I believe this information should clear up some of the questions. Jim & I wish everyone a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving and please eat a whole lot for me. My waistline thanks you! FROM THE BUILDING INSPECTOR pm With cold weather creeping in on us, may people are beginning to use their heating systems. Whether you utilize fireplaces, gas, electric, or any other form of heating equipment, care should be taken before putting the equipment back to use. A simple examination of the equipment before use may prevent the likelihood of fire, electrical shock, or other accidents from happening. Fireplaces should be thoroughly cleaned, free of soot and creosote buildup. Dampers should be functioning property also. Be sure leaves, and tree limbs have adequate clearances from the chimney cap. Residents with fireplaces should consult with a professional "Chimney Sweep' for a complete inspection and cleaning.
