The SHORE LINE inspector (continued from page 1 When using gas appliances, you should familiarize yourself with the proper use of the appliances. Refer to the owners manual for cleaning suggestions and routine maintenance. Should you smell gas when using the appliance, tum off all controls and extinguish any open flame. Open a window to ventilate the room and call your gas company immediately! Do Not allow gas to accumulate when lighting the pilot light If the txjmer does not ignite on the first try, tum off the control and ventilate the appliance before trying to light it again. If you are unsure about relighting a pilot light that has gone out, call your gas company. Portable electric type heaters should be in good working condition and bear the seal of a nationally recognized safety testing laboratory. Be sure to place the appliance away from combustibles such as drapes and newspapers. The equipment should be stable and placed where it will not be tipped over. The cord and plug attachment should be of the grounding type (Three prong). Check electric blankets. Look for cracks or breaks in the wiring, plugs and connectors. As well, look for charred spots on both sides of the blanket surfaces. Electric blankets should be used uncovered, used flat, and maintained as per the manufacturer's instructions. As with any electric appliance, consult with a qualified electrician should you encounter any problems. Before installing any new heating or air conditioning equipment or having repairs or rrxxifications done to an existing system, contact the PKS Buildng Inspections Department as a permit and an inspection may be required. I hope you feel the same. "I Ain't Dead Yeti’ My hair is white and I'm almost blind. The days of my youth are far behind. My neck's so stiff, can't tum my head - Can't hear half that's being said. My legs are wobbly, can hardly walk. But glory be, I can surely talk! And this is the message I want you to get: I'm still a-kickin' and I ain't d^d yet I've corns on my feet and ingrowing nails - And they hurt! Here language fails. To tell you my troubles would take too long. If I tried you surely would give me the gong. I go to church and Sunday School too. For I love the store that is ever new. And when I reach the end of my row, I to my heavenly home will go. Then, when I leave this house of clay, If you listen closely. I'm apt to say, "Well folks. I've left you, but don't forget I've just passed on, but I aini dead yet!" Ed Baker, of Rne Knoll Shores, has donated a collection of Zane Grey Books for (Wiltttn by a Mytar eld woman)
